Luke Maguire Armstrong is the author of the "All the Beloved Known Things” and nine other works. He has lived in Thai and Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and has studied yoga and meditation in Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, India, Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala, and The USA. His focus is classical hatha yoga, Dorje Tibetan Yoga, and vipassana meditation.
He continues ongoing studies with indigenous populations and combines cacao ceremonies with trainings in Mayan cosmology. He bases his travels from the village life in Guatemala where he works to enable the holistic education of 80 impoverished children through The Integral Heart Family education center. His development work led him to being featured on ABC News’ Global Health Special and interviewed by Christiane Amanpour. Sometimes his joy is the cause of his smile, other times his smile causes his joy.
The retreat farmhouse is just miles from the geographical center of North Dakota. Be prepared for a unique retreat experience. You will be well loved and cared for as you nourish your body and soul with silent meditation, yoga, tea ceremonies, and replenish with light and simple vegan and vegetarian dishes.
Accommodations will be a mix of private and shared occupancy rooms, and dormitory style sleeping with twin beds and sturdy sleeping cots. There is one full bathroom, plus two half baths, and one quarter bath. Weather permitting, there may be time outside for walking meditation, snowshoeing, or simply being in nature and filling the lungs with brisk, fresh air.
Check in Thursday, March 2 from 3-5pm and enjoy time getting to know other attendees over supper and conversation, and retreat orientation with Luke. Settle into your accommodations and prepare for your 3-day silent meditation retreat Friday-Sunday. Check out Monday morning after a final tea ceremony and goodbyes.
